Description
|
Jersey measures about 116 square km and has over 560 km of roadway. Jersey
is the most southerly island of the British Isles and has a mild climate
with an average temperature of 20C in the summer. Jersey is a safe and
beautiful island with majestic cliffs, rocky coves, clean sandy beaches and
green countryside. Jersey has a wealth of history: the Normans made the
greatest impact on the Channel Islands and during WWII the Islands were
occupied by the Germans. There are many historical places of interest to
visit including Elizabeth Castle and Mont Orgueil Castle, situated on the
coast and the German Underground Hospital with an exhibition of life in
Jersey during the occupation

The capital town of St Helier has a good pedestrianised shopping centre with
High Street stores, small local shops and a attractive Victorian vegetable
and fish market. Outside the town, specialist outlets sell the locally
produced Jersey Gold and Jersey Pearl, Jersey Pottery and woollen ‘jerseys’. Jersey has an Opera House and Arts centre with a range
of musical productions, shows and exhibitions. There is a range of

Jersey offers excellent opportunity for water sports, golf, horse riding and
walking. Jersey has a network of Green Lanes where there is a speed limit of
24 km and priority is given to walkers, cyclists and horse riders
