Travel Leeds and Bradford Airport is situated to the north west of the city and has flights to Europe whilst Manchester Airport (66 kms) has international flights. Leeds has motorway and rail connections to the rest of the country. Leeds is 1 hour’s drive to Manchester, 2 hours to Newcastle, 3 hours to Birmingham and 4 hours to Bristol and London
Description Leeds is the largest city in West Yorkshire and the third largest city in the UK after London and Birmingham.

Leeds developed as a thriving textile-manufacturing centre until the 1940’s. Large mills and weaver’s cottages can still be seen on the outskirts of the city. The city centre has a mixture of Victorian and modern buildings.

Leeds is now a prosperous commercial, industrial and manufacturing city. It is also the cultural and sporting centre for much of the region. Leeds is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with a lively nightlife.
Entertainment and Sports The city centre has pedestrianised streets with a large variety of shops. The Victoria Quarter is full of traditional Victorian arcades. The Kirkgate Market is a large open-air market and is housed in impressive Edwardian buildings. The Corn Exchange offers Victorian heritage with designer fashion.

Tourist attractions include the Royal Armouries, the City Art Gallery, Granary Wharf and a tour of Tetley's.

The city has many cinemas, theatres, an Opera House, music hall and art galleries. Leeds has a good nightlife with many clubs and music venues. There many pubs and the majority serve locally brewed beer. Leeds is home to Yorkshire Bitter.

Leeds has a number of parks and open spaces including Woodhouse Moor and Roundhay Park and the Temple Newsam estate near the city centre.

Leeds has good sports facilities, including an international swimming pool, fine golf courses, tennis courts, pitches for rugby, cricket, football and hockey. Other outdoor pursuits are offered in the nearby Yorkshire Dales. Leeds United Premiership Football Club can be seen at Elland Road. International cricket can be seen at Headlingley, home of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rugby League Club
Surrounding Areas Leeds is situated on the southern edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Other areas of outstanding beauty near to Leeds are The Pennines, the North York Moors and the Vale of York. There are with many historical places of interest close to the city, such as the stately homes of Castle Howard, Nostell Priory and Harewood House. The scenic Yorkshire East coast is 105 kms away
