Travel Plymouth City Airport has flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Jersey, Guernsey and Cork. There are coach services from Plymouth to major cities of the UK and to Gatwick and Heathrow airport. It takes 4 hours by coach to London. There are frequent trains to London and to the north of the UK. It takes 3 hours by train to London. Plymouth operates ferry services to Spain and France
Description Plymouth is the South Coast’s largest city and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The port of Plymouth has a rich maritime heritage. Most of Plymouth was destroyed in the Second World War and it has been rebuilt since then. A few Elizabethan buildings remain in the town’s old quarter near the harbour, where there are many interesting shops and galleries of local artists. The city centre has a modern pedestrianised shopping centre with a good range of shops
Entertainment and Sports  Plymouth has many historical places to visit, art galleries, a National aquarium and glassworks. Cruises of the harbour and river are available. Plymouth has 3 cinemas and an arts centre.  The Theatre Royal provides top class programmes from drama to musicals. The Plymouth Pavilions holds pop and classical concerts and sporting events. Plymouth has many clubs and pubs. The Mount Batten Sailing and Watersports Centre provides excellent watersports including sailing, diving, powerboat racing and fishing. There is a racecourse nearby at Newton Abbot
Surrounding Areas Plymouth is located near to the wild uplands of Dartmoor with its magnificent scenery and pretty villages. The Eden Project, which has huge covered conservatories of plants is close by in Cornwall
